For those who come through Entebbe Airport, travel from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which takes about 8 hours. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park starts off early in the morning with a briefing about the gorillas, the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking, how to behave when you get close to the gorillas and what to do when you are leaving the gorillas at the end of your trekking. Groups of  8 are allocated according to the gorilla family you are going to trek. The gorilla trekking activity can take a minimum time of 2 hours and a maximum time of 7 or 8 hours. These Mountain gorillas are always moving, a gorilla family that is found within 2 hours today could take about 7 hours to be found the next day. The minimum age for gorilla trekking in Uganda is 15 years and one must have a gorilla permit to be able to go trekking in Bwindi.

Day 1

Gorilla Trekking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Leave Kigali airport/your hotel in Kigali at 3:00 am driving through Cyanika /katuna border to Bwindi forest. Enjoy the 4 hours scenic drive to catch up with the pre-trekking briefing in Bwindi at 7:00 am. You will then hike into the jungle to meet the gorillas and spend an hour with these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Descend to the park headquarters, pick your trekking certificate and transfer back to Kigali for your return flight. The actual time o spend in the jungle before meeting gorillas depend on the location of the allocated gorilla family and the speed of their movements.
