Arrival at EntebbeOur Primates and Wilderness Safari starts with a pick up from the airport as our staff members will be waiting to meet and introduce themselves to you upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Afterward, you will be transferred to the Protea Hotel Entebbe.
Kibale NP - Nature walk in Bigodi WetlandsThe tour driver picks you up at 7 am, leaving for Kibale National Park which is located in western Uganda. By mid-day, you will be in Fort Portal, the biggest town in the region and an hour’s drive to the park. Have a meal in Fort Portal and thereafter proceed to Kibale. Check into your lodge and relax. In the evening you will go for a walk in the Bigodi Wetlands which are located on the edge of Kibale Forest. Observe a variety of wildlife including several monkey species, birds, butterflies, trees and shrubs. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Chimpanzee HabituationEarly morning breakfast and drive to UWA headquarters for a briefing with rangers at Kanyankyu River camp at 8 am and set off for chimpanzee habituation. The Chimp Habituation Experience – all day with chimpanzees in their natural setting. The chimpanzee habituation experience is limited to the number of visitors that can take part, one has to plan early to get a spot on the day and date that you would like. This is not like chimpanzee tracking where you can have a larger group, this is spending time with a team of trackers and researchers. You will be able to see other primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed monkeys, bush babies, pottos and many bird species like the yellow-spotted nicator, green breasted pitta, the crowned eagle, black bee-eater and mammals like Elephants can be seen in this walk. After your chimpanzee habituation continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park, and have dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable National ParkEarly morning game drives at 6:30 am, after your breakfast. The park is wonderful with lots of big games and very beautiful scenery. Expect to see lions, elephants, topis, kobs, buffaloes, hyenas, and leopards. Afterward, drive through the Ishasha sector to proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. If you are lucky you can see the famous tree-climbing lions. Lunch en route, in the late afternoon, check into your selected lodge for your overnight and dinner.
Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National ParkAn early morning breakfast, and drive to the park headquarters at 8 am for a briefing with the park rangers. Afterward, set off for Gorilla tracking. This may take half or all day tracking depending on the location where the gorillas are. You will be able to spend an hour interacting with these awesome primates as you take photographs. Return to the lodge for your late lunch and later in the evening you visit the Batwa (Pygmies) community for unique cultural styles and entertainment and a community walk.
Travel to Kampala | Uganda EquatorAfter your breakfast, you will set off for Kampala. You shall have lunch in Mbarara town which is located halfway through the journey. You will then have a stopover at the Uganda Equator line, take pictures and purchase some souvenirs from the crafts shop. Continue to Kampala, reaching late afternoon. You will be transferred to your hotel or to the airport for your departure flight.
